Microwave Cooking
One amazing thing about the Demarle at Home Flexipan® is that you can cook food in the microwave without adding water. Use the large round mold (or smaller mold for smaller portions) covered by the octagonal Silpat®.

Microwave popcorn:
This is much healthier than using prepackaged popcorn, which is causing lung problems because of the coating on the inside of the bags.  NOTE:  Microwaving popcorn does not work well in older microwaves because they do not get hot enough.
  • Add about 1/3 cup popcorn (there should be some black visible at the bottom of the Flexipan®) to the large round mold.
  • Do not add butter or oil or (if you must) add 2 T butter & water and swish to mix.
  • Cover with octagonal Silpat®.
  • Set the microwave timer for 5 minutes.
  • Cook on high until the popcorn stops popping.
Every microwave is different, so you may have to experiment. When the popcorn stops popping, turn the timer off. If the timer goes off while it is still popping, add a little more time.
  • Remove covered Flexipan® from microwave and lift Silpat®, opening the side away from you to avoid getting a steam burn.
Microwave Kettle Korn:

  • Pour in 1/3 cup sugar and 3 Tablespoons water in the Large Round Mold. Swirl around until mixed together.
  • Microwave for 2 minutes. Mixture will be bubbling.

  • Add 1/3 cup popcorn kernels. Swirl to cover kernels with hot syrup.
  • Cover with Octagonal Silpat® and microwave for 2-4 minutes. Kernels should still be popping to avoid burning.
  • Remove covered Flexipan® from microwave and lift Silpat®, opening the side away from you to avoid getting a steam burn.
  • Add salt as desired.
If you burn it, start over.  All microwaves are different, so you may have to experiment to get it right, but it's worth it!

Steamed Veggies:
Avoid losing rich nutrients in the colored water at the bottom of the pan. The veggies will be moist and tender, retaining their natural moisture and nutrients.

  • Cut up your favorite veggie (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) into the mold it fills at least half way.
  • Do not add water.
  • Cook on high for 5 minutes or until veggies are as tender as you want.
Every microwave is different, so you may have to experiment with the time.
  • Remove covered Flexipan® from microwave and lift Silpat®, opening the side away from you to avoid getting a steam burn.
